Cortez Makerspace is bursting at the seams! And this fall, we're doing something about it.

We're launching our first-ever volunteer-led fundraiser: Fall Maker Fest. Five weekends of workshops, a pop-up costume shop, the Innovation Challenge, a Maker Market, and a Halloween bash on Main Street, and every dollar it raises goes straight back into youth programs, workshops, and open studio here in downtown Cortez.

We can't pull it off alone. Here's where you come in:

🎃 Workshop supplies — real pumpkins, paint, glitter, fall-themed fabric scraps, wreath bases, dried flowers, pinecones, and more (most useful during our workshop weekends, Oct 2–17)
🧵 Costume shop donations — new, used, or DIY costumes, plus fabric, trim, buttons, and patterns (dropping off now through October)
🎁 Auction & prize donations — gift certificates, local goods, and prizes for the Maker Market
🎤 Sponsorship — a live musician, or the supplies for a workshop
🙌 Your time — help set up or tear down our workshops, the Maker Market, or the Pop-Up Shop
📣 Just show up — take a workshop, shop or vend at the Maker Market, enter a contest, or tell a friend

GIRLS BASKETBALL

• $40 per player, includes jersey
• Practices begin late October
• Games held Saturdays 11/7 – 12/19

WOMENS INDOOR VOLLEYBALL

• $200 per team, 6v6
• Games held Monday evenings beginning 10/19

The rec center will be closed from 9/21-9/25 for annual maintenance. Phones will not be staffed during this time.

Fall into Fitness at the Cortez Recreation Center by joining our six-week fitness challenge!

• Six week program kicks off October 13th
• Group classes held Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, exclusively for challenge participants
• Package also includes personalized nutritional coaching, weekly check-ins with Coach Sydney and a motivational group chat with your cohort!
• $125 for Cortez Recreation Center members, $150 for non-members

Cortez Recreation Center and Can Play have teamed up to bring adapted sports programs to youth and adults with autism and special healthcare needs, including physical, cognitive and emotional challenges. These programs focus on coordination, skill building, and positive social interaction.

• Diamondball season will be held Tuesdays 4-5pm from October 27th through November 17th
• Open to all ages, both youth and adults. Suggested minimum age 6+
• $30 per player includes a t-shirt
  • Scholarships available if payment is a barrier!
