How it works today
From a hand-curated email to a living web platform
For years, Chuck’s List has been an email compiled from a master spreadsheet,
with bulletins and events curated into sections and sent to a growing subscriber
base on a regular rhythm.
Behind the scenes, a moderated publication workflow keeps bulletins,
events, and jobs in their own lanes, enforces date windows, and
generates campaign-ready HTML from approved listings.
The web version and campaign exports use the same approved database
listings, so publication does not require double entry.
Why it matters
Reducing friction, strengthening mutual aid
Chuck’s List exists to make it easier for people to help each other: finding
housing, sharing rides, filling local jobs, promoting events, matching
resources to needs, and getting urgent information out quickly when it counts.
The design choices are deliberate — clear sections, no public comment threads,
no engagement algorithms, and no paywalls on neighbor listings — so the signal
stays strong and the list remains easy to read and act on.
As the project grows into a more formal community institution, the mission
stays the same: keep Montezuma County connected, informed, and better able to
care for each other in both everyday life and times of stress.
